Intro
ReplyDeleteThesis: The public is not being protected by the government and agencies like they think they are, in fact they are test subjects in their experiments.
1.“Almost half a century later, Earth Day rolls on but those once-hopeful agencies seem to be serving corporate agendas that destroy, not protect, the Earth” (Freeland, 9). Earth Day was supposedly started as a way to encourage and enforce green legislation, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, which it did, but were there underlying reasons? After Earth Days initiatives became commonplace the fear surrounding human impact on the environment took off and the media pushed this mindset.
2. “The American people did not foresee the impact that blanket secrecy would have on their peacetime representative government” (Freeman, 12). People thought what was being held from them was for their safety, secrets regarding aspects of military and need to know basis, but we can now see that this has caused for mass misunderstanding and false information to be pushed as the truth. As each generation is taught their own lies, they compile and we have people in younger generations perceive these facilities to be their reality as it gets fed to them through media, school and word of mouth.
3. “Mainstream media play an essential role when it comes to silencing voices attempting to expose secret programs that constitute a danger to the public (and republic)” (Freeman, 17). The public thinks thinks they are well informed of the dangers that lurk in their everyday lives, but it turns out this is not always the case. News and social media do a great job spreading falsities as well as silencing the voices of those who try and speak the truth.
Chapter 1
Thesis: There have been many potentially harmful tests that have been conducted on unknowing civilians.
1. “Cows ate fallout grass, Americans drank fallout milk” (Freeman, 36). After Project Argus, that exploded three nuclear fission bombs 480 km above the South Atlantic Ocean the animals located on land where the fallout of the explosions affected ingested the toxins. As humans then took resources from thee animals the absorbed these toxins too. On top of the other radioactive isotopes that had entered their tissues and thyroid glands.
2. “Throughout the 1980s, rocket and space shuttle launches averaged 600 per year, peaking in 1989 with 1,500 and many more during Gulf War I” (Freeman, 38). The public was conditioned to believe rocket launching offered a brighter more advanced future. We were told if we could claim the sky and space, we would be ahead of the rest. While this may have been true, the rocket launches released hydrochloric acid and ozone destroying chlorine into our stratosphere. These negative results of taking control of the sky were not portrayed to those being affected by these pollutants.
3. “In July 2012, Russ George, former CEO of Planktos,Inc., exercised his godlike powers to alter nature by dumping one hundred tons of iron sulfate off the north coast of British Columbia” (Freeland, 46). The public was told this was supposedly done to create a carbon dioxide sink with aid from Environment Canada, Canadian Space Agency, NASA and NOAA. But upon further investigation it turned out that it was not even iron sulfate that had been dumped into the water, it was instead a fine dirt like substance with trace amounts of iron.
Question: How do we get these superpowers to tell the truth to the people and get them to stop using us as part of their experiments without our consent?

ReplyDelete1. “Almost half a century later, Earth Day rolls on but those once-hopeful agencies seem to be serving corporate agendas that destroy, not protect, the Earth” (Freeland, 9). This first page gave me hope that I would enjoy the thesis of this book, but I was wrong. I do like what Freeland is trying to express, but it’s a bit too much in some sections. I may just be reading Freeland’s writing wrong.
2. “While mainstream newscasters wring their hands over “global warming” and “climate change”, ionospheric heaters torque the chemtrails and unnaturally heat the planet in endless military “experiments” (Freeland, 11). Reading through this introduction prepared me for how this book would be in later chapters. I definitely see a trend of opinionated facts and crazy accusations throughout it. I’m curious to see where Freeland takes her readers.
3. “Under such a regime of secrets, lies, and plausible deniability, our greatest defense must begin with learning how to read between the lines of mainstream media smoke and mirrors so as to discern how public inquiry is being confused and marginalized by assaults like that of overused, hackneyed term “conspiracy theory” (Freeland, 13). I believe that this makes sense because people do need the skill of seeking the truth through the complex media. I am hoping that Freeland discusses more about this topic in the next chapters.
Chapter 1
1. “Turn microwaves into giant virtual antennae, circuit boards, and low-frequency radio transmitters and they can be made to penetrate the ocean and Earth as well as impact satellite functions” (Freeland, 37). I don’t really understand what Freeland was trying to explain in this sentence, but I comprehend it as a little outrageous, not coming from the science world. This chapter and Freeland’s writing overall is hard to interpret personally.
2. “Some military planners even tossed around the idea of putting giant mirrors or unshielded nuclear reactors in orbit around the planet to act as “new suns” –all of which sounds uncomfortably familiar” (Freeland, 41). This sounds super interesting and I wish Freeland discussed this more throughout the chapter.
3. “Solar magnetic field patterns have lowered significantly in the past 150 years and will de-intensify in the decades ahead as global warming gradually reverses by 2030 to 2040” (Freeland, 44). Um… are you serious? I am not supporting this prediction in any way because it is foolish and ignorant. I am not looking forward to reading the next chapters if the attitude is the same.
Intro
ReplyDeleteThesis: Going forward projects run by the U.S. government must be transparent, especially experiments that have extensive negative impacts on human health and the environment.
1. Projects such as HARP and the continuous emission of chemtrails are not, “just a scientific issue but a moral issue” (Freeland, 25); they are moral because the lives of humans and all other living things are impacted by these shady and secretive projects.
2. Additionally, it is clear that the federal government does not want the citizens to know about these projects due to the fact that, “renaming clandestine projects and corporations that have received too much public attention is a widely employed shell game [by the US government]” (Freeman, 21).
3. Lastly, the mainstream media dictates public knowledge, and so the mainstream media today, “works hard to sustain military-industrial complex thinking” (Freeman, 19), among the citizens of this country. This system allows the government to shadily create projects in the name of national security without raising questions.
Intro: Media can and has easily taken advantage of the public and its perspective, whether this be truthful or not.
ReplyDelete1. “Almost half a century later, Earth Day rolls on but those once-hopeful agencies seem to be serving corporate agendas that destroy, not protect, the Earth." This is very true. We have had many years of Earth Day, but our Earth is still suffering from many human-driven variables.
2. “Maintain a lie or secret for one generation and the next generation becomes easy pickings, particularly if the lie is echoed in school textbooks, TV cartoons, the History and Discovery Channels. Confuse one generation and the next will happily ingest the media gruel prepared for them.” The more we engrain a notion in one generation, the more susceptible future generations will be to continue that same belief. This can be good or bad depending on the concepts passed down.
3. “Mainstream media play an essential role when it comes to silencing voices attempting to expose secret programs that constitute a danger to the public." Everything, especially in this day and age, comes back to media presence. If something becomes commonplace in the media, it will linger in more people’s minds for sure.
Chapter 1: There is an extensive history of nuclear, chemical, and bio warfare that has been shown to affect the stratosphere.
1. “Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, more than three hundred megatons of nuclear bombs were exploded in the atmosphere." Nuclear bombs have been a form of stimulating public fear while also just testing the capabilities of this energy source. It is a very dangerous playing field.
2. “Control the jet stream and you can reroute storms, hurricanes, and droughts and make a fortune from weather derivatives. Shoot microwaves into the Earth (tomography) and you can discover oil reserves, underground bunkers, and war booty. Decimate a developing country, then send in contractors, earth-moving machinery, “aid,” CIA, military, etc. to boost the economy back home, and if a country does not comply with transnational and IMF “guidelines,” a flood or drought might convince its leaders to reconsider.”
3. “Early on, public inquiry into things HAARP and chemtrails was consigned to the outer darkness of the conspiracy fringe.” I don’t think this theory should be considered a conspiracy, but I do think that it is discrediting data and findings that have been established for a much longer period of time.
Question: Why does the author feel the need to try and completely dismantle the idea around scientists and climate change (which they put quotation marks around in the book) instead of just allowing the ideas to coexist?
THESIS: People in power can manipulate citizens to see, hear, and maybe even feel whatever they want them to.
ReplyDelete1. As technology increases, as does secrecy and the clandestine activities of the government. “Secrecy always accompanies cutting-edge technologies yoked to war” (Freeland 11). Power and profits are the drivers of this secrecy.
2. Distraction and “business as usual” can blind a society to what is going on. “The artificially mediated environment spoon-fed to us by “experts” has crushed much of our confidence in our ability to perceive what is really going on right before our eyes” (Freeland 13). It is possible to become unaware of the truth even when it is right in front of you if you have been experiencing something a certain way for a long time.
3. There are many people involved in the conversation about chemtrails. “Today, the electronic buzz of thousands is furiously pursuing what is going over our heads and how it connects with what is showing up in our soil and bodies” (Freeland 19).
THESIS: Chemical warfare and civilian testing has been happening for longer than is known by the general public.
1. Loopholes are almost always present in situations of heightened power. “HAARP is classified as a research project, which means “informed consent” is suspended” (Freeland 32). Without informed consent, a population cannot know or make any decisions on what happens to them or their communities.
2. Most things are run by the rich. Specifically, the rich white men. “…putting foxes in charge of the chicken coop isn’t new” (Freeland 46). This leaves room for corruption and people making decisions for personal gain rather than for the good of the people.
3. “By the time people began waking up to chemclouds in increasingly white skies in 1998, everything HAARP was protected by unclassified civilian status and embedded media so as to circumvent treaties, public scrutiny, and congressional oversight” (Freeland 62). If the government or other powerful bodies can manage to do something under the publics’ nose for long enough, they can have the proper protections in place so that nobody has the power or knowledge to fight back. This was the case with HAARP.
Question: Is anyone in the U.S. military or government actually intelligent enough to create and keep up with elaborate plots?
Excellent analysis here, team ENV DEC!

Introduction
ReplyDeleteThesis: The world is changing and Americans are being overloaded with information that is blinding them from the ‘full spectrum dominance’ of the planet through weaponizing the planet that is taking place.
1. “If the military mindset has its way, all of the Planet Earth will be militarized under the policy of full spectrum dominance.” (10) The earth is moving in the direction of being fully dominated and having every corner of the planet militarized. The “CNN Syndrome” is targeting the public’s desire to be informed by shoving the idea of global warming at them while everything on the planet is being weaponized.
2. “Wars over natural resources are being replaced by wars over ‘societal disruptions’ as the line between civilian and soldier is erased.” (11) The way we rage war has substantially changed over time and is not openly about resources anymore. The switch to ‘nonexplosive’ warfare is going to be a far more detrimental form of war with more destruction.
3. “The American people could not foresee the impact that the blanket secrecy would have on their peacetime representative government.” (12) There is a system of information overload that was designed by psychologists to have cognitive dissonance. Americans are being overloaded with differing news outlets 24/7 and media coverage that counteracts. By having so much bad news also forces people to seek distractions that will eventually overtake them and limit what they are understanding of what is actually happening.
Chapter 1
Thesis: There are people who are aware of going on the public is naive to the war that may be taking place.
1. We are so conditioned to only view war in one way, we imagine a war zone, armies, battle lines, and machine weapons. We are unaware that there is potentially a war going on around us everyday with weapons of their own. There may be a silent and slow wars taking place against human life and the destruction of our planet. Our planet is dying and people are getting sick, climate change maybe part of this but it is dangerous to view anything as just one thing or have only one explanation.
2. Under Title 50 there is protection against chemical and biological warfare projects. There can be no experiments on civilians unless for medical, therapeutic, pharmaceutical, agriculture, and industrial research and tests. HAARP is a research project therefore informed consent is not necessary. HAARP has been permitted by the government to test their projects on civilians for decades and will continue to.
3. “When it comes to inquiring into national security technologies buried in lies, you'll notice that good questions ten to outpace good answers.” (47) Geoengrineering and big business have combined into a powerful combination that aims to privatize and control many of our military projects. There are so many disastrous and confusing energies that have happened recently and there has yet to be any good answers.
Question: Who is involved and fully aware of what is being discussed in the book?
Intro
ReplyDeleteThesis: In order to understand geoengineering, one must understand the pretenses behind the reasoning and tactics of how this technology came to be.
“If the military mindset has its way, all of Planet Earth will be militarized under the policy of full spectrum dominance” (10). What this means is that the goal of the Pentagon is to have global control of the world. They do this by manipulating the public, weaponizing the climate, and maintaining secrecy.
Out new technological advances have caused an evolution in the way powerhouses manage. “Wars over natural resources have been replaced by wars over “soceital disruptors” as the line between civilian and soldier is erased” (11). War is essential to keep the empire that is the US up and running. Because data is the newest resource, it can also be exploited just like any other resource.
“Confuse one generation and the next will happily ingest the media gruel prepared for them” (12). By psychologically manipulating the minds of a single generation, this can effectively disillusion the following generations to come. What was once up for debate can turn into a simple fact, not up for question. The government has used this as a tool to push their political and military agendas. This leads to the reclamation of the phrase “conspiracy theory.”
Chapter 1
Thesis: What is ionizing the atmosphere?
“We must permit ourselves to think of war as a silent, unnoticed, slow working but deliberate destruction of life on a planet, a satellite, or even a star” (30).
“While the Secretary of Defense may not conduct any chemical or biological experiments on civilian populations,” Says Freeland, “The loophole lies in allowing for medical, therapeutic, pharmaceutical, agricultural, and industrial research and tests, including research for protection against weapons and for law enforcement purposes like riot control” (31). The reason our current and environment is continually tested on and poisoned without our consent is because the government has managed to take advantage of loopholes. This means that consent is not required in order to carry out these “research projects.”
“Military projects have a tendency to eventually be “outsourced” or privatized to universities and defense contractors, a practice lending itself to cloaking and plausible deniability” (44). By merging geoengineering with big business, projects can receive funding and fall under the guise of private industry advancement. The projects seem as though their aim is to reverse climate change by cooling the planet, however what they are actually doing is manipulating the climate to their benefit. Not to mention this is done disproportionately so that some areas are affected positively while others experience major negative effects.
Question: Is there anything that can be done to change this? Seems like a long-time, deeply entrenched societal illusion to me.

ReplyDeleteIntro: There is a veil of knowledge over geoengineering and the military’s work with weather modification and HAARP.
ReplyDelete1. “The American people did not foresee the impact that blanket secrecy would have on their peacetime representative government. They thought they understood the whys and wherefores of Cold War containment of military and intelligence secrets, including compartmentalization and need-to-know clearances” (Freeland, 12). We didn’t know what can of worms we would be opening for the government and military to take over operations with such little knowledge.
2. “We find ourselves in an upside-down world in which government and industry profit from creating disasters and running biological “trial experiments” on the people whose tax dollars feed their children…” (Freeland, 13). The military and government is risking the safety of its people in testing technology beyond our knowledge.
3. Freeland concludes the chapter stating, “With this clarion call resonating throughout our electrical bodies and brains, we begin our study of chemtrails and HAARP and their role in what the military hopes will constitute a full spectrum dominance of Planet Earth and its living beings” (Freeland, 26).
Ch. 1: Chemtrails has been kept a secret from the American people by using the veil of protection and research.
1. “Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, more than three hundred megatons of nuclear bombs were exploded into the atmosphere— charged and radioactive particles, 40,000 electromagnetic pulses” (Freeland, 35). These tests have been going on for a long time without general knowledge of its existence and leaving with great impacts.
2. The National Weather Modification Policy Act went under the Secretary of Commerce in 1976. “Then came the 1978 ENMOD Convention (Environmental Modification) prohibiting the deliberate manipulation of natural processes having severe effects on climate and weather patterns, such as earthquakes, cyclones, tidal waves, etc. Not only were both attempts to curtail the imminent weaponizing of weather toothless, but political leaders were given free rein to employ weather against their own people” (Freeland, 37).
3. “Purportedly, at NASA’s behest, the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) created a weather modification program to cloak the classified military weather modification and warfare program, and it’s been global warming ever since…” (Freeland, 43). NASA has programs centered around weather modification under false pretenses.
Question: What are the true intentions of any government participating in weather modification? Are some governments working to cool the Earth while others are trying to warm it? Is the U.S. working against itself, with some projects working towards warming while others try and cool it?
Intro: Thesis. The government uses the media to sway public opinion
ReplyDeleteThe concept of conspiracy theories was invented by the United States government in order to stop people from asking questions about Kennedy's assasination. This is public knowledge as it is no longer in the period where they hide information on a subject because enough time has passed.
We can also see this happen a great deal during election time when politicians try and sell themselves as the best possible person for the job. They spend massive amounts of money to sway people into seeing their way.
All of this means that we need to keep an open mind when dealing with subjects that at first glance seem silly. We must take what we are told with a grain of salt and find whatever truth we can and parse together.
1: Thesis. Even the testing process can be harmful.
Climate manipulation is difficult to safely test as it involves the placement of chemicals into the atmosphere. It is hard for scientists to know what exactly will happen when such things are put on mass into the air
The natural world is a complicated system and lab experiments don’t do it justice as they only test for specific things. We can never be sure exactly what will happen when things are introduced to nature and unexpected results are common. Testing possibilities could result in causing damage to the environment.
This inability to know for sure is reason to take the process slow if it is done at all. It would be a good idea to find ways to test such things but I don’t expect that to happen unless we start testing on other planets.
Question: How does the government benefit from hiding the truth about climate manipulation?
Chapter one.
ReplyDeleteThesis: There is potential evidence to support the notion that agencies are enforced to carry out atmospheric projects.
1)“While the Secretary of Defense may not conduct any chemical or biological experiments on civilian populations, the loophole lies in allowing for medical therapeutic pharmaceutical agricultural and industrial research and tests, including research for protection against weapons, and for law enforcement purposes like riot control (Freeland, 31). Those responsible for protecting human health are not necessarily responsible for making their populations unknowing test subjects.
2)There are multiple methods available for geoengineering. “Control the jet stream and you can reroute storms, hurricanes and droughts and make a fortune from weather derivatives. Shoot microwaves into the earth, and you can discover oil reserves underground bunkers and war booty destiny, a developing country, then send in contractors earthmoving machinery aid CIA, military, etc. to boost the economy back home, and if a country does not comply with transitional IMF guidelines. A flood or drought might convince its leaders to reconsider”. (37) There is a large market available for geoengineering.
3) There is no transparency from the small groups in power to the public.“Small group of leading climate scientists, financially supported by billionaires, including Bill Gates, are lobbying governments and international bodies to back experiments into manipulating the climate on a global scale to avoid catastrophic climate change”(45)
Who has the power to monitor these agencies?

ReplyDeleteIntroduction:
ReplyDeleteThesis: Although it may seem that the government and the media have the best interests of people and the planet in mind, we can understand by doing our research and reading between the lines that that is not always, and not even usually the case.
1. “If the military mindset has its way, all of the Planet Earth will be militarized under the policy of full-spectrum dominance.” (Freeland, 10). We cannot allow those in power whose top priority is world domination through militarized efforts to destroy our beautiful planet.
2. In a world where the U.S. president decides that facts shared by news media that don’t agree with him are “fake news,” it is ever more crucial that we as citizens become skilled at reading between the lines and working to understand what goes on behind closed doors with our world’s most powerful leaders behind them.
3. “Mainstream media play an essential role when it comes to silencing voices attempting to expose secret programs that constitute a danger to the public (and republic)” (Freeland, 17). It can be difficult to get the word out about an idea like this one based on the mainstream media bias that exists throughout the popular sources available for citizens today.
Question: How can we encourage people to read between the lines on mainstream media and work towards a more aware population?
Chapter 1:
ReplyDeleteThesis: It is the responsibility of the American public to be aware, educated, and open to sharing.
1. “We must permit ourselves to think of war as a silent, unnoticed, slow working but deliberate destruction of life on a planet, a satellite, or even a star” (Freeland, 30). War is the worst thing possible for children and all living things, including non-human living things. It doesn’t really get to the roots of problems and causes significant death, destruction, and degradation of both people and the planet.
2. “Purportedly, at NASA’s behest, the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) created a weather modification program to cloak the classified military weather modification and warfare program, and it’s been global warming ever since…” (Freeland, 43). Seems a little weird...is Freeland trying to say that NASA is responsible for global warming?
3. “…putting foxes in charge of the chicken coop isn’t new” (Freeland, 46). Throughout our history, the United States has had a knack for placing folks in leadership positions who don’t have the best interests at heart for members of the population or for the planet.
Question: How can we get the foxes out of the chicken coop once and for all?
